Rainwater management during the Achaemenid era
How did the Achaemenids manage rainwater and flooding?
A complex network of underground water supply and sewage tunnels has been discovered at Persepolis. These waterways were constructed as subterranean tunnels and numerous channels, spanning a total length of over two kilometers. Most of the rainwater was directed into these channels, which carried the water and sewage of Persepolis out of the city.
